Comic-Con: From Fringe Nerd-Fest To The Pop-Culture Mainstream

40 years ago, the world’s first Comic-Con attracted 300 comic book fans. This year, it will bring around 125,000 people to San Diego, including some of the world’s biggest celebrities, where they’ll celebrate a broad swath of comics, TV, movies, and all things pop culture. Here’s how it got there.
