icemountain a year agoBon Iver is the best new artist of this year. It’s true he is not all that new and he did have an album out before his latest self titled album, but as you can see from all the people who do not know who he is, he is still relatively new. His latest album put him out there and made him known to the public making him somewhat new. Honestly, I think it’s terrible that he is mostly known for “doing that one song with Kanye” because his music is amazing along with his lyrics. But if he had to do that song with Kanye to get out there in the public I’m glad he did because his music is amazing and hopefully we will be able to listen to his music on the radio rather than the same five songs every hour that are clearly auto-tuned and have no creativity in them.

I don’t really blame people for not knowing who Bon Iver is (he’s not that famous) but their reactions are ridiculous. Why the hell do you judge someone if you did not even LISTEN to their music. But hey, actually we should just all be happy that this ‘real’ artist won the grammy :) (though actually I really do not care, it won’t change my mind about music in any way)

Most popular music sucks. It’s barely more interesting than than advertising jingles. Bon Iver is not the most interesting artist to put out an album this year, but he is certainly better than most of the BS that passes for music in the top 40. And don’t start about pop artists and record sales. Walmart sells a whole lot of furniture, and all of it is garbage that will fall apart within a year. Popular music is no different. Do your self a favor: Turn off the radio, and go find some real music. It will change your life. You want dance music, rap music, metal, etc.? It all exists outside radio, and most of it is much more interesting than anything that that Clear Channel is willing to promote. Want to explore what music outside the 4 or 5 genres that get play on the radio have to offer? It’s there too. Tons of it. There’s a whole world of interesting music out there, and all you have to do is be proactive instead of passively accepting whatever airplane food quality garbage gets pumped through the airwaves.
