When i say something about rightwing atrocities such as the pepperspraying or kent state murders my friend (ya he still is) jumps all the way off the deepend and calls me a communist. I dont have a degree in anything but a commond responce to me is ive got a professor on speed dial. What Matt Stopera is suggesting may have been joked about but it is in fact a terrible idea. You are telling a group of protesters who have been running into violence from police that they should arm themselves. I know I'm not the first person outraged by this post but if you don't understand why then you should probably listen. Wow, I'm just livid. It was bad enough that some of the Tea Party protesters were armed for this exact same reason. Nothing will turn a protest into a riot faster then giving them guns. Especially since OWS already has problems you are looking at deaths. People WILL die if enough people show up with firearms, legally or otherwise. The police have been using excessive force, sure fine, but it's been Non-violent. Ultimately the movement will succeed if they stand tall and refuse to back down. Not if they start bringing weapons. Remember; “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.” Which of these conditions haven't been met yet?

Many cities have laws that permit open carry. I'm assuming these rallies took place in such cities and that's why the police didn't intervene. This post is just ridiculous. When did buzzfeed stop posting actual internet buzz and take a drastic swing to the left?

Those rallies are the exception. I have been to a lot of rallies in CA and TN and there were no guns. There were only a few cops at every event. There was no garbage, no shitting on cop cars, no racism, no hate, no arrests. The difference between the TEA party and the occutards is pretty damn obvious. Genuine concern and respect for America on one side…. jealousy, sloth, bile and ignorance on the other.
