cutestalker a year agoDuring my childhood, I had many pets. Among them, a dog and a turkey. Did I eat my pet dog? No, of course not.
Did I eat my pet turkey, even after it was deliciously cooked? No, of course not. Yes, it’s weird to have a pet and then go “hey, eat it”. However… Do I eat turkey? Of course!
Do I eat dog? Maybe, I’m not so sure about some taco stands around here.
Would I knowingly eat dog? Sure, why not. If it is your pet, yes, it is difficult to eat it. But that’s not because there are “pet animals” and “animals I want to eat”. It’s just because you’re attached to them. -

aed0924 a year agoWell, PETA, I don’t eat dogs because we have domesticated them and keep them as common household pets, thereby forming a cultural and moral taboo against eating them. Also, have you ever been around an actual turkey? They’re complete dicks.

russells4 a year agoIt’s my opinion that some meat eaters get so defensive about their dietary choices when they’re attacked is because deep down they feel guilty. I don’t feel the need to constantly justify why I’m a vegetarian, despite the fact that the very mention of it induces people telling me I’m wrong. Is it so difficult to understand and accept the reasons people eat the things they do?

Emily G. a year agoI like some of the arguments on here. Some of you do realize that this is just because of the culture we live in right? Some people eat dogs, some eat rats, some cows, pigs and so on. It just depends what country you live in and what resources are available to you. There are even certain cultures that farm out the same animals that they keep as pets. And the whole “oh PETA is controversial because they show you reality” No they don’t. They show their reality. PETA acts like eating animals is a 21st century act. Scaring children with an ad like this is no excuse. They take their agenda too far (as many organizations do). I will make up my own mind as to if I want to eat animals. Don’t sit there and call me a hypocrite because I keep Fido as a pet and eat Gobbles and Porker. You should try to educate people, not shock them. Haven’t you seen what shock value does? It makes people hate whoever is trying to wield it to their advantage.

Kiki a year agoMy problem isn’t so much their apples-to-oranges comparison… it’s that they’re taking it upon themselves to indoctrinate our children and to question the food their parents put on the table. Sorry PETA, but in this economy we can’t all afford to shop at whole foods and and let our brain-washed children tell us what to make for dinner. Fuck you, Peta. KelseyLee a year ago“PETA’s “Animal Record” report for 2010, which the animal rights group itself filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, shows that PETA employees killed 94 percent of the dogs and cats in their care last year.” its all about money now… its cheaper to put animals down than to try to find good homes for them. with all the money they make (close to $30 mil. a year), one would think they would have enough money to run an animal shelter… but obviously, they are more concerned with ridiculous advertising.
