What a piece of shit. Is he going to carry those women’s baby for 9 months? Is he going to care and pay for that child? I think it’s despicable to harass these women like that. It’s hard enough. These women are doing the right thing. If they don’t feel they can care for a baby or don’t have the support or finances or whatever the reason is then they shouldn’t have a baby. Where will these men be when the poor woman who kept her baby is alone, broke , overwhelmed, jobless, and miserable because she isn’t equipped to raise a baby?

Emily G. a year agoIt amazes me the number of people who would rather have children rot in horrible environments. Not all babies are adopted. Foster homes? Have you heard the horrible shit that happens in foster homes? Most of these children will grow up to be treated horribly, or go through major struggles physically and emotionally. You all cannot be so naive to think that all these unwanted children end up with happy endings. I know plenty of people that grew up in the worst environments, and only a few that ended up in loving homes. You are sacrificing many other children’s lives, health and sanity for the happy adoptions that you all keep talking about. Don’t even get me started on women’s health. When talk about bringing children into this world, you add in another person’s struggle in to it. Once these children are born? What happens to them? What happens to the ones with debilitating health conditions, mental conditions? What happens to the ones that don’t get happy homes? And yes the health ones passed through the system may not grow up to be twisted people, but they will still have hard lives

Jenny a year agoI respect that he has an opinion that I do not agree with. He’s entitled to it.
Why can’t he, and all pro-lifers for that matter, respect that people are making deeply personal decisions that they may not agree with. These women and perhaps their partners are entitled to make that decision themselves.
It’s absolutely lowly to stand outside clinics and make these people feel terrible about that decision. The bible is not an excuse to place additional emotional strife on anyone. Plus, it’s not their place to make the judgement - they should leave that up to their Big Guy in the sky. -

Until men are able to get knocked up and give birth, they shouldn’t have a say in what a woman can and can’t do with her body! If men were able to get pregnant, women wouldn’t be fighting for the rights for things that were supposed to remain settled decades back today.

I am completely pro-choice. However in the public discourse the father’s voice is rarely heard, or allowed to enter the discussion. If he wants to keep and raise the child alone, taking full responsibility and custody, at what point do his rights and desires have any sort of valid claim? The father is just as much a parent of that child as the mother, both biologically/genetically and in western society’s culturally established rules of parental responsibility, so at what point during the decision making process related to abortion does the father’s wish become legitimate? OR- It is simply the woman’s body, and any claim the father may try and stake holds no water until the baby is out, crying, into the world? I understand and acknowledge both sides of the issue in this particular regard, and it is a complicated one; I don’t think its as easily resolvable as ‘woman’s body end of story’. Those who say that aren’t objectively thinking through all sides of the issue, which is necessary to truly engage in fruitful public discourse. I write this somewhat as a response to the photo Derek L. posted which does raise an excellent question: the mother can chose whether or not to be a parent; why is this choice not available (without repercussion) for the father?
