The Dr. Pepper campaign is pretty damn stupid, but as it's clear the company doesn't give a shit about women complaining the pugs may as well make the argument on our behalf. Seriously, how can you resist a pug? That being said, I do think there's a “women complain about dumb things” contingent on BF that I'd like to see less of. It doesn't do much for the site's credibility.

Buzzfeed's liberal contingent is so middle-of-the-road. Supporting stuff like Occupy Wall Street, but not so into dismantling cultural fuckery. Guess it would take up too much time that could be better spent reading about the Kardashians and reading about memes from second-hand posts.

How many ads are centered around just women? Makeup, fashion, weight loss products, the list goes on and on. Same thing with men. Workout videos/equipment, male enhancement drugs, etc. The fact of the matter is that many products will always target one gender or the other. The only thing that Dr. Pepper did wrong is market a gender neutral product. Soda. Yes, Dr. Pepper went about this the wrong way saying that it is “Just for men” and should have included a “disclaimer” that “Dr. Pepper 10 is a great beverage to be enjoyed by anyone and everyone.”

I agree with @imward, its a technique that's used in ads all the time. The retard husband whose life is saved by his oh-so-smart wife, or ads for something for young girls that points out how gross and stupid boys are. The young girl's store Justice's slogan is “just for girls” and no one cries about that. I feel like the “just for girls” thing is really driven into young women's advertising a lot, whether they come right out and say it or not. I think everyone needs to relax.

ok, somewhat devil's advocate here, but how often do we see an advertising campaign directed to almost exclusively women and not think twice about it? There's often the “stupid man” that doesn't “get it.”
