    Theirs was a friendship of circumstance. Had they stayed in the Shire, their relationship would have probably never evolved beyond that between an introverted and cultured Hobbit and his naive and sweet gardener. But they went through literal hell together, always supporting each other (no matter what the movies would have you believe) and finding solace in each other's company. And in the end, they were ready to die in each other's arms. Has there ever been a more beautiful friendship? I say no.
