He failed in getting the guy to say it, but succeeded in making him very uncomfortable.

lotus flower 4 months agoI don’t know what kind of self righteous crazies you all are, but some of us really HAVEN’T stooped to the use of racial epithets in our daily lives, in the presence of African Americans or not. So don’t say “everyone says it,” because no, they don’t. Why is there a need to use this language at all? Nothing more frustrating than listening to some uninformed trogdolite blather on about how there’s “black people and then there’s n$&)3s.” If the conversation was “fags or gays” would we be having this talk?

gubbabump 4 months agoUsing the word “nigger” is like using any other word. If you use nigger in a mature discussion about race matters there is nothing wrong with it. Same as using the word asshole in a discussion about anatomy. If you use the word nigger to insult, demean or hurt someone it is like using the word asshole to insult, demean or hurt someone. Use of the word nigger is not inherently racist just as use of the word asshole is not inherently insulting. It all depends on how you use it, and Samuel L. was justified in pointing out that you can’t have a discussion about a word if you aren’t even willing to say the word itself.

boweryboy 4 months agoHere’s the thing: I think everyone has said that word at least once in their lives. However, there’s a huge difference in saying that word in your personal life (for whatever reason you would ever need to say it) and saying that word on television during an interview. The reporter was being professional. Samuel L. Jackson was not.
