48 Moments From The "Revenge" Finale You Need To Remember

Revenge's up-and-down (mostly down) second season concluded with a dramatic two-hour finale you've probably forgotten by now. Here's a recap to brush up on before the Season 3 premiere on Sunday, Sept. 29. Massive spoilers for "Truth," obviously.

1. Fade in on a blackout.

ABC

At the end of the last episode, Aiden inadvertently triggered the Initiative's major blackout by draining all the funds from the Amanda Clarke Foundation, where the Graysons have been hiding their money. Good job, Aiden.

2. Jack wants to enlist Victoria's help in taking Conrad down.

ABC

Yeah, good luck with that. Jack needs access to Conrad's safe, which he believes holds the computer with proof that Conrad was behind framing David Clarke for the bombing of Flight 197. (It doesn't. That computer is currently at the bottom of the ocean.)

3. Declan is trapped with Regina, who is awful.

ABC

Seriously, the worst.

4. Aiden is going to get the blackout pinned on him, so Emily tells him to run.

ABC

To be fair, Aiden did kind of cause the blackout. But he's just a pawn! Emily knows what the Initiative is capable of when it comes to blaming terrorist plots on other people, so he'd be wise to take her advice. (He won't.)

5. Declan confronts Regina on being in love with Charlotte, because that's a thing, apparently.

ABC

Things are about to get really awkward — but then the power comes back on. And Regina makes her escape, not before discreetly shoving a wad of cash into Declan's pocket. Wonder if that will be an issue later.

6. Victoria delights in telling Conrad about all the schemes going on behind his back.

ABC

She's not on Conrad's side, but she definitely helps him out by explaining that Jack knows about Conrad's role in Amanda's death and that he plans to sabotage the press conference. Oh, and Ashley's in on it, too.

7. Emily and Nolan find Takeda's body.

ABC

She thinks someone from the Initiative is responsible, but as we know (and as Em will soon learn) it was actually Aiden's doing. Awkward!

8. Regina claims Declan attacked her and stole the bail money, and Charlotte is stupid enough to believe her.

ABC

Damn Regina for being so evil, but really, damn Charlotte for being this much of an idiot. Yes, your obnoxiously devoted boyfriend suddenly flipped and beat up your bestie for no reason.

9. Victoria confronts Daniel about the pregnancy test she found, thinking it's Emily's. But oops, it's Charlotte's!

ABC

She's suitably horrified to learn that her teenage daughter is with child. Babies having babies, y'all.

10. Emily notices Aiden's injuries and realizes he's the one who killed Takeda.

ABC

It kind of puts a damper on their relationship.

11. But Aiden explains that he killed Takeda in self-defense, because Aiden was about to reveal that Takeda had been using Emily all along.

ABC

Surprise, Takeda wasn't training Em to be a revenge machine out of the goodness of his heart. Takeda had a vested interest in seeing the perpetrators of the Flight 197 bombing brought to justice: His fiancée died on the flight. And he wasn't too keen on Aiden telling Emily the truth, which is why Takeda and Aiden had to fight to the death. Emily is still pretty upset, obviously.

12. At Grayson Global, Emily recognizes the tech guy as a member of the Initiative.

Which means something very bad is about to go down.

13. Victoria drops the baby bombshell on Declan.

ABC

Then she tells him to get lost. Hey, it's not like he's the father of her future grandchild or anything.

14. Conrad uses Ashley's phone to text Jack.

ABC

"Meet me at Grayson Global, 27th Floor, at 4pm." It's a trap! And apparently Ashley just leaves her phone unattended? These people are terrible at discretion.

15. Nolan casually mentions to Aiden that Emily once walked away from revenge for love.

ABC

This is after Aiden complains that Emily would never turn her back on her mission for him. And just like that, Nolan crushes the Brit's fragile self-esteem. To be fair, this is moments after Aiden confesses to killing Takeda, so Nolan isn't feeling super compassionate.

16. Declan calls Charlotte to tell her how pumped he is for the surprise baby.

ABC

He also gives her the lowdown on Regina, causing Charlotte to finally wise up and kick her crappy friend to the curb. Bye, Regina. Oh, it's worth noting that Charlotte casually tells Declan that she's with Daniel before she loses service. THIS WILL BE IMPORTANT MOMENTARILY.

17. Emily and Nolan identify the Initiative agent as an assassin, which, duh.

ABC

Unfortunately, that means he's going to kill someone, which is probably why he was hanging out at Grayson Global. And that's where Jack is headed. WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT A TRAP?!

18. Nolan and Emily are desperately trying to get ahold of Jack.

ABC

Because TRAP. He's not answering his phone, though. Who gets service in the Grayson Global elevator?

19. "LONG LIVE DAVID CLARKE."

ABC

Everyone gets this text from a blocked number. It is not a good sign.

20. And boom goes the dynamite.

ABC

In the middle of Conrad's speech about standing up to terrorism, the 27th floor of Grayson Global explodes. (It probably wasn't dynamite.)

21. Conrad takes charge as a first responder.

ABC

Which was obviously the plan all along. Kind of brilliant, really. Conrad may be an opportunistic asshole, but he's our opportunistic asshole.

22. Emily runs into Grayson Global to rescue Jack, who isn't even there.

ABC

She does find someone else under the rubble, though. Who could it be? You'll find out in like, five minutes. Sit tight.

23. Jack is fine, but he's a little suspicious of Nolan warning him about that massive explosion.

ABC

Well, very suspicious, as he should be. Nolan has to think fast. He tells a half-truth: He's been working with Victoria to find her long-lost son, and he accidentally stumbled on a terror plot. Sure, makes sense.

24. Jack turns on Ashley next, thinking she set him up.

ABC

Again, reasonable! He did get a text from her leading him right to the bomb. But she swears she didn't send it — and together they realize Victoria must have let Conrad in on their plot.

25. Oops, they blew up the wrong Porter brother.

ABC

Yes, it was Declan who was caught in the explosion. It's never really explained why he was at Grayson Global, but if you were paying attention, you'll know it was because he thought Charlotte was there. CHARLOTTE, HIS BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS.

26. Jack sneaks into the hospital to see Declan.

ABC

And Declan mentions that he's going to be a dad. Terrible timing, buddy. Blame it on the pain meds.

27. Aiden makes one last plea for Emily to run away with him. She doesn't.

ABC

"I hope you get what you're looking for, Amanda," he tells her. "No one has ever deserved it more than you." And then he kisses her goodbye and leaves forever. (Probably not forever.)

28. Declan and Charlotte make up.

ABC

Truly theirs is a love story for the ages! Don't worry, Declan swears the doctors say he's gonna be fine, and he wouldn't lie about something like that. Right?

29. Daniel and Conrad battle it out, at which point Conrad lets slip that he knew about the bomb.

ABC

Daniel is appropriately horrified, to the extent that he temporarily forgets all the money has been wiped out of the Graysons' account.

30. Declan is a big fat liar, and he's probably going to die.

ABC

So he tells Nolan to take care of Jack. It's kind of sweet.

31. Emily and Victoria have yet another showdown.

ABC

They live for this shit. And frankly, so do we. Victoria tells Emily she knows Em isn't marrying Daniel for love. Emily threatens to take Charlotte away with them to Paris. Victoria threatens Emily if she dares take Victoria's children away. Em says it's not her fault all of Victoria's kids hate her. They glare excessively.

32. Aiden gets arrested.

ABC

Good job fleeing the country, Aiden. I was being sarcastic.

33. Daniel tells his mom that Conrad knew about the bomb.

ABC

And then says he's done with her and she's completely alone. Victoria is not having the best day.

34. "There is no Initiative, my dear. There never was."

ABC

Oh, OK. Good to know. When Victoria confronts Conrad about the bomb, he casually explains that the Initiative isn't an actual organization so much as a bunch of evil businesspeople who know how to profit off of fear. They orchestrate fake terrorist attacks and reap the benefits. (Sounds like an organization to me, but what do I know?)

35. Conrad's been working with the Initiative (or whatever we're supposed to call it now) since he got arrested.

ABC

Flashback time! Helen offered him entry in exchange for protection — and a lot of money. The Graysons are all set to triple their net worth. Of course, this means Daniel was never in any real danger, and Victoria killed Helen for no reason. LOL!

36. R.I.P. Declan.

ABC

Nolan gives Jack a recorded goodbye message from his brother. It's OK to cry, even if you consider Declan to be the most useless character on this show. (That honor now goes to Ashley, who is being written out soon!)

37. Nolan suggests they go on the run, but Jack is determined to give Conrad what he deserves.

ABC

Which is a bullet. And given that Jack has now lost his dad, his dog, his wife, and his brother, it's OK for him to be this cranky.

38. Jack nearly kills Victoria, and she's kind of into it.

ABC

Again, she's having a really bad day. But Jack realizes it's crueler to make Victoria suffer for what she's done. Also, it would not be OK to leave Victoria in peril two season finales in a row.

39. Nolan is arrested for terrorism.

ABC

He's not having a very good day either.

40. Victoria decides not to tell Charlotte that her babydaddy is dead.

ABC

That's going to be an awkward conversation in the morning. Maybe she can just tell Charlotte that Declan went to live with a nice family on a farm?

41. Aiden and Daniel tussle.

ABC

"Every drop of blood the Initiative has spilled is on Grayson hands." I mean, clearly. But Daniel attacks Aiden anyway, and though it seems like the trained fighter has the upper hand, the scene ends with Daniel looking ominously at a gun.

42. Padma puts all the blame on Nolan.

ABC

From beyond the grave, no less! Looks like she was coerced into making a video claiming Nolan was a terrorist disciple of David Clarke.

43. Conrad is elected governor.

ABC

Just as Emily arrives to prevent Jack from assassinating him. And presumably also for the free champagne.

44. Emily asks Ashley to stop Conrad from giving his speech — and giving Jack a clear shot.

ABC

And Ashley is happy to oblige, until she realizes Conrad is going to exploit Declan's death for personal gain. Even she thinks that's gross, so she tells Conrad to go ahead with his victory speech, knowing it's going to end with a bullet.

45. There is blood on Daniel's shirt.

ABC

Is it Daniel's? Is it Aiden's? Was the gun fired? Will that stain ever come out?

46. Patrick returns.

ABC

Yes, Victoria's long-lost son is alive and well and standing on her doorstep. She drops her wine glass and it shatters in slow motion, which is the unequivocal highlight of the episode.

47. Jack is all set to kill Conrad, but Emily manages to intervene at the last second.

ABC

Her timing is impeccable.

48. "I'm Amanda Clarke."

ABC

Emily FINALLY tells Jack the truth about her identity. And with a cliffhanger this good, it's easy to forgive a lot of what came before it. But not everything. Revenge Season 2 may have ended with a bang, but it was mostly one long whimper.
