carliem2 3 months agoHonestly, I realize fritos are not healthy… I do not even think nonvegans think they are healthy, but I like that I am still able to eat them (on occasion) because they are linked to the memory of having chips and bean dip when I was younger with friends and family at parties. To be honest its nice to at least have one thing I can still share with my family that we always use to eat. Now the dip is much different… but its the best opportunity to convince them that vegan food is awesome, and can be enjoyed.

SitaSky 4 months agoIt’s true that just because someone is vegan they are not more healthy or fit. It’s all about what you eat at the end of the day, a jar of cake frosting can be vegan, still very unhealthy. If you really want to be healthy your main diet should include mostly fruits and veggies plus some nuts and whole grains. You can eat some animal products such as lean chicken or fish but you still need to be aware of where that meat came from and how it got to your table. It could be loaded with hormones or antibiotics, the animal may have been tortured before it was slaughtered. Being healthy and being responsible can go hand in hand. Just remember that you and your body have to live together for a long time, hopefully , so you should be aware of what you are putting into it at all times. Don’t fill yourself up with preservatives,sugar or fat. I think it’s easy and I am a vegan but I strongly believe everyone should eat what they want and hopefully you are healthy even if you eat steak and bacon every once in awhile.

Wombatish 4 months agoMany of these products have a D because they’re processed where Dairy Cross Contamination is possible, thus (possibly) violating the regulation to separate meat and dairy. It’s not always a sign the product itself contains dairy. For example, Nutter Butters: nothing but oils.

esperanzarubiot 4 months agoThis is unsurprising. I worked with a ton of vegans in the past and though you can think that it’s all veggies and rocks, they forgo animal products for a lot of chemical things (I realize many do this as a way to avoid animal cruelty, not just for health) eat a lot of junk food and also smoke weed and drink (some) beers. I miss you, stinky hippie dippy vegan friendly place.

threepipeproblem 4 months agoWhy would anyone be surprised these products are vegan? Animal products are generally expensive and a lot more nutrient-dense than vegetable products, so why would a manufacturer want to pay extra to put them in cookies, chocolate syrup, corn chips and candy? Here would be a more impressive trick. Find a bunch of vegan products that aren’t fortified with niacin. It’s looking more and more like niacin fortification is a major cause of cancer.

SitaSky 4 months agoMany studies have proven that people who eat a mostly animal based diet have a higher chance of getting cancer while people who eat a plant based diet are more likely to not get cancer or heart disease and diabetes. If you include gluten products in there including refined flour, sugar, etc. you will see higher chances of cancer related deaths but if you ate nothing but fresh fruits and veggies plus some nuts and grains you will be much healthier, live longer, look better, and feel more responsible since you are not hurting any animals get your food.
Plus, many animal products are not more expensive, I worked at a restaurant that used very cheap meat products such as beef trimmings instead of fajita steak. If you go to your local grocery store you can find cheap ham or bologna slices or canned chicken or tuna. It’s not any healthier than eating an apple and the apple is most likely even cheaper. It of course depends on where you live and if the apples are in season or not. Watch the movie Forks Over Knives to learn more about eating a healthy diet, it’s very informative and uses real science and facts to back up it’s claims.
