Firefighters Responded To An Alarm In Newfoundland. Because Of An Accordion

    HOT LICKS.

Accordions are a cherished part of traditional Newfoundland folk music. They're also, apparently, potential death traps in waiting.

Firefighters in Gander, Newfoundland, responded to a call at seniors' residence when a too-hot accordion set off fire alarms.

But it wasn't because someone got too excited playing some hot licks (squeezes?). It turns out someone had set it down against an electric heater and the buttons started melting off.

Adison Quilty of Gander Fire and Rescue told BuzzFeed Canada there was no actual fire, but the melting had caused a bit of smoke. They aired out the room and no one suffered any injuries.

But, he said, "it was a bit unusual."

"We do get calls where people have placed furniture and things like that up against heaters," he said. "But i guess musical instrument — you don't get that all the time."
