It's only been out for four days, but Adele's long-awaited third album, 25, is already breaking sales records.
According to Billboard, 25 has sold 2,433,000 copies in the U.S. and is on track to become the fastest-selling album in U.K. chart history.
Two and half million copies in just over three days! To put that number in perspective, here's a list of all of the wigs the singer has snatched in the last few days:
1. NSYNC's one-week sales record from 2000
Record: Most albums sold in a single a week
Year set: 2000
Albums sold: 2,416,000
Adele has defied all the odds and toppled NSYNC's long-standing record for most albums sold in a single week. Fifteen years ago, the boy band's sophomore album, No Strings Attached, sold a jaw-dropping 2,416,000 copies in its first week — a figure that 25 bested in just over three days.
2. Britney Spears' record for most albums sold by a female artist in a single week
Record: Most albums sold by a female artist in a single a week
Year set: 2000
Albums sold: 1,319,000
Last year, Britney Spears fans were elated when Taylor Swift failed to beat the singer's 15-year-old record for most albums sold by a female artist in a single week. Unfortunately for them, Adele managed to do it in just a couple days.
3. 1989's position as the top-selling album of 2015
Record: Most albums sold in 2015
Year set: 2015
Albums sold: 1,800,000
Last week, Taylor Swift's 1989 was the top-selling album of 2015. This week, it's number two. In just four days, Adele has moved more copies of 25 than 1989 has sold all year.
