MMR 9 months agoI can’t help but wonder if some of these “higher ups” (like JoePa, the President of the University, etc.) didn’t tattle on Sandusky because they’re doing the same? We’re just finding out details; this could be even more sinister than previously thought. Why else would they cover up something for so long?

As a PSU student without my head up my ass, I think the outrage comes from making JoePa seem just as guilty as Sandusky. Yes, he absolutely could have done more and is an AWFUL human being for keeping information from officials, but he seems to be getting more media focus than the guy that actually committed the acts.

Cecy 9 months agoYou know what would have solidified all these cries that Paterno is a legend? If he HAD spoken up about what he knew. Not only would his legacy as a great coach be honored, everyone would recognize him for DOING THE RIGHT THING. Anyone who cannot understand what he did wrong is just plain dumb. No other way to put it. If you have any knowledge of a situation like the Sandusky abuse reports, it is your duty as a moral and decent human being to speak up. Fuck football. Fuck reputation. I don’t care how many games he coached and won. Kids were being raped and molested. Paterno and the rest of those idiots were enablers. If he, and/or anyone else who knew what was going on, had actually called the cops YEARS AGO, PSU would be applauded for recognizing a serious problem and taking care of it. If precious JoePa is rolling around in his grave it’s only because his life was tainted by the huge mistake he made. People want to say he died because of stress and being fired. Oh, please. The guilt and shame took him out.

So basically all of these people are saying “Joe Paterno is innocent and couldn’t possibly have anything to do with any of this child molestation stuff because he won SO MANY football games!” As if the two are in any way related, and as if the winning makes him a good person.

So my plan is to buy an Island when I get super rich (which I totally will) and dump all of the ignorant morons on it to fend for themselves and try to survive away from society. So these people are now joining the Asshole kids who made fun of the bus lady, Executives at Chik-Fil-A, and people who got offended at the Daniel Tosh “rape joke” just to name a few.

Truth is truth, no matter how much you try to cuss those reporting it, or how much you like a football team. Honestly, are there really people here defending these men just because they call themselves loyal fans? If it were your brother, sister, son, or daughter on the receiving end of the abuse, your views would change.

Davine S. 9 months agoMaybe absolutely none of them have kids of their own… I wonder if their feelings will change once they’re responsible for the safety of someone other than their own sports-obsessed selves? But I don’t have kids either, and I’ve cried for these boys countless times. What sorry fucking examples of human beings they are, if they can’t extend compassion towards the vulnerable kids who were systematically abused at the hands of someone they trusted. It’s one thing for Dottie Sandusky to be completely brainwashed - perhaps a victim herself, of a different kind - but these tweets are from people who are in the privileged (and safe) position of seeing this unfold from the outside. How could anyone defend the cover-up of child rape for the sake of SPORTS?? It’s an embarrassment to the university, and undoubtedly prolongs the humiliation and torment of the victims. I really, really don’t want to live on this planet anymore.
