Penn State Students Are The Only People Surprised By The NCAA’s Sanctions
What did they think was going to happen?

i just want to add those are freshman doing summer session at the hub. they havent even attended a fall semester yet at penn state. calling this penn state students, like we are all idiots, is completely stupid. There are thousands of us who are not surprised. way to over generalize ..
@masterblaster And which ice cream shop was that? I lived there and never heard of it. Everyone there is just as disgusted by this as the media.
I guess you can only post here if you are carrying the torches and pitchforks to get rid of all the evil people who live in Central PA. They ALL KNEW!!! Even the elderly and the infirm…they ALL KNEW. Parents and their children, THEY ALL KNEW. They should be chased out of the country! Somebody has to pay a price!!!
As a student at PSU’s former rival (hail to Pitt!) I was expecting to be a lot more satisfied by this than I actually was. Truth is, pennsylvania schools have had a really rough past year and even though it’s absolutely undeniable that Sandusky deserves everything he’s getting, I don’t think the penn state students do.
When will they attach ropes to those Paterno statues and pull them down in the same manner like they pulled down the statues built for Saddam? It is disgusting. (I never understood how one could build a statue of someone living anyways) The point is he let things pass that should not have, tear down those monuments to such horrific crimes that leave permanent scars on those individuals- obviously he didn’t care enough to step in and stop the abuse, but allowed his likeness to be placed on a pedestal. Disgusting. I hope these people can go after his estate (no idea if they can), but Paterno sure donated a ton of money that the school, err state, paid him to coach… And off of my soapbox.
All you self righteous posters out there better realize that only 5 or 6 people plus the AG of Pennsylvania, and the BOT new ANYTHING about what was going on. The rest of us that live here are good people who don’t deserve your disdain and who feel terrible about what happened but guess what? We found out when YOU did. But hey if that sweet rush of righteous indignation makes you feel more moral than everyone else then go for it. My mother and father live here too and both of them have more CLASS and KINDNESS and EHTICS then most of the haughty commenters other from other places…yeah that means you. I hope the next time a pedophile gets caught in your town I get to shut the whole town down and get to call you a pedophile for the rest of your life.
The sanctions, other than the fine, only apply to the football program. Students are not being “harmed” by this. They could eliminate the football program altogether and it would not affect their education. The football staff and university administration allowed the rape of children to continue for years. That is the issue, not whether students can enjoy the football team.
i think people should think before they criticize an entire school. penn state students and faculty did not ask for this. maybe you should do some research into what else goes on at psu… like maybe the fact that penn state is close to a cure of cancer and maybe you should do a little research into this little thing called THON. not everybody at psu is evil. those 5 people do not reflect the whole school. let them enjoy their education and rebuild their school to what it should be and not what it has become.
That’s right, kids: Unlike Sandusky, the NCAA’s not “horsing around.”
