Linflation: The Effect Of #Linsanity On eBay And StubHub

Winning games? Check. Becoming a media darling? Check. Making people money? Check.

Jeremy Lin's meteoric rise as equal parts Knicks savior and media darling has had a massive effect on both the secondary ticket and basketball card markets (don't laugh, the basketball card market is a surprisingly real thing). According to Chris Matchovich of secondary ticket-sales tracking website TiqIQ, since last Tuesday the Knicks season average ticket price has risen 7.61% (from $235.50 to $253.41). Also as of last Saturday you could get a ticket for Wednesday night's Kings-Knicks game at Madison Square Garden for $29. Now the cheapest seat in the building will run you $79. That's an increase of 172.4% in less than three days.

Meanwhile eBay has been home to a massive spike in Linsanity. The following are examples of auctions of Lin cards pre and post his Knicks debut.
