Is This 12-Year-Old Too Big To Play Football?
Elijah Earnhart is over 6 feet tall and weighs almost 300 pounds. In any other era, he’d be the perfect young, football player, but in the age of concussion awareness is he just too big?

If you only let 300 lbs 7th graders onto the team, it would only be this guy. Put him on an older team, it’s not like you have to know calculus or whatever to play football.

sirpoopalot 8 months agoI would worry about the safety of the other players too. If this was high school then itd be better, but theyre 12. Someone or someones are going to get really hurt playing with someone who weighs close to 3 times as much as they do.

hanapana 8 months ago130 lb limit, really? My son plays 7th grade football and there are at least 5 kids on his team at 150lbs and higher. A few are over 200 lbs and that’s not a problem either.
You can’t have a 7th grader play for a high school team because his mental physique isn’t ready for it. I suggest letting him play on the offensive line for the 7th graders or even the 8th graders. He can’t tackle anyone and can block for the runner or QB. If this team won’t allow anyone to play over 130 lbs, then it’s probably not a successful team anyway, unless it’s a league-wide rule. It’s shame they can’t accomodate this student somehow. -
