"Fifty Shades Of Grey" Movie Needs A New Christian As Charlie Hunnam Drops Out

He was too tied up with TV work to play the bondage king.

A little over a month after casting Charlie Hunnam as the rich kink maestro in Fifty Shades of Grey, producers of the big screen adaptation of E.L. James' smash trilogy need a new Christian Grey.

Universal released a statement on Saturday saying that the filmmakers — including director Sam Taylor-Johnson — and Hunnam "agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey."

Hunnam, who starred in this summer's Pacific Rim, is the leading man in FX's motorcycle club drama Sons of Anarchy.

Still a member of the cast is Dakota Johnson, who will play Anastasia Steele, the protagonist who stumbles into a world of (good) pain when she meets Grey.
