Exclusive: "House Of Cards" Adds Rising Star Actress Kate Lyn Sheil For Season Two

The Netflix political drama is currently in production on its second batch of 13 episodes.

Kate Lyn Sheil has entered the treacherous world of Frank Underwood.

BuzzFeed has learned that the New York–based actress has joined the second season of House of Cards, Netflix's buzzy political drama that stars Kevin Spacey. Sheil's role on the show remains secret. She also has a pilot in development at HBO with the filmmaker Alex Ross Perry, called The Traditions.

Sheil most recently starred in Amy Seimetz's Sun Don't Shine, and has become a staple of the independent film scene over the last several years. She also co-starred with Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, Jess Weixler and Keith Poulson in this spring's Somebody Up There Likes Me and took a star turn in frequent collaborator Sophia Takal's 2011 drama, Green. She is one of the leads in writer/director/actor Karl Jacob's Pollywogs, which premieres at the L.A. Film Festival on Friday.

House of Cards has not officially announced any new cast members, but TV Line reported at the end of May that Molly Parker (Deadwood) and Sam Page (Mad Men) had joined the show as well.
