Utahns Rally At Capitol In Support Of Marriage Equality

“It’s a civil rights issue,” one speaker said at the rally.

1. Supporters of marriage for same-sex couples in Utah rallied Friday at the Capitol in Salt Lake City.

2. And they literally filled the rotunda.

3. Speakers talked about marriage equality.

4. And the group delivered a petition to Gov. Gary Herbert’s office in support of the ruling that made Utah’s ban on marriage for same-sex couples illegal.

5. This week, Gov. Herbert advised state agencies to not recognize the more than 1,300 married same-sex couples.

6. But Friday, Attorney General Eric Holder said the federal government would recognize them.
