Amandla Stenberg Comes Out As Bisexual In An Inspiring Snapchat

"As someone who identifies as a black bisexual woman, I've been through it."

    Amandla Stenberg is a phenomenon.

The 17-year-old actress, who played Rue in the Hunger Games, has been killing the game for almost as many years as she's been alive.

Most recently, Stenberg was interviewed by fellow "nonconforming black girl" Solange Knowles for the February cover of Teen Vogue.

And Thursday night she took over Teen Vogue's Snapchat channel to share some powerful words on the importance of representation, sharing for the first time that she identifies "as a black, bisexual woman."

She also posted the video to her Tumblr, where it's tagged "#hello #I'm very bisexual".

The note came as part of a message about the importance of seeing yourself reflected in media and the world around you.

She signed off with some inspiring words about the future.

"This is just the beginning, though. We have a lot of work to do, for all women of color. I mean, we need more representation in film and in television, and we need our voices to be louder in the media. And not just women of color...bisexual women, gay women, transgender women, mentally ill women. I'm sick of all the misogyny and homophobia and transphobia that I see around me, and I know you are, too."

And later shared the video on Twitter, saying "bi black girls unite."

Shared something on the teenvogue snapchat last night. Bi black girls unite. https://t.co/gvXdtKLUfT

Nope, we're definitely not crying. YOU'RE crying.
