Fortunately the king’s guards catch the plotter after she has poisoned only one bottle. Unfortunately, the guards don’t know which one of the bottles is poisoned. The poison is so strong that no amount of dilution will make it safe to drink. Furthermore, it takes one month to have an effect. The ruthless king decides he will get some of the prisoners in his vast dungeons to test the wine. Being an intelligent, if ruthless, king, he knows he needs to sacrifice fewer than 10 prisoners and know for a certainty which one of the wine bottles was poisoned. How does he know that?

A farmer is standing on one bank of a river, with a fox, a chicken, and a bag of grain. He needs to get to the other side of the river, taking the fox, the chicken, and the grain with him. However, the boat used to cross the river is only large enough to carry the farmer and one of the things he needs to take with him, so he will need to make several trips in order to get everything across. In addition, he cannot leave the fox unattended with the chicken, or else the fox will eat the chicken; and he cannot leave the chicken unattended with the grain, or else the chicken will eat the grain. The fox is not particularly partial to grain and may be left alone with it. How can the farmer get everything across the river without anything being eaten?

Did you ever notice that drops of water are always spherical in shape? Have you ever seen insects floating over surface of water? These phenomenon takes place due to an interesting property of liquids called surface tension. Surface tension may be defined as the inward forces of attraction that act on the surface of a liquid and help to reduce the surface area of that liquid. Surface tension helps the liquid drops to maintain spherical shape. You may assume surface tension as an invisible stretchable film surrounding that liquid.
DRAGON VERSUS KNIGHT A dragon and a knight are trapped on a desert island. This island has seven poisoned wells, numbered 1 to 7. If they drink from a well, they can save themselves only by drinking from a higher number well within a few minutes’ time.Well 7 is located at the top of a high mountain, so only the dragon can reach it. In other words, if the dragon drinks from well 4, it will die unless it has a cup of poison from wells 5 to 7. The same is true of the knight. One day they decide that the island isn’t big enough for the two of them, and they have a duel. Both the knight and dragon are rational creatures. Each of them brings a cup of water to the duel, they exchange cups, and both drink the contents of the cup brought by his adversary. After the duel, the knight lives and the dragon dies. What strategy did the knight use to defeat the dragon?

The two pills, which are indistinguishable, must be taken together. If they are not, the patient will die. The patient has bottles of A pills and B pills. She puts one of the A pills in her hand. Then while tilting the bottle of B pills, two B pills accidentally fall out. Now there are three pills in her hand. Because all the pills look identical, she cannot tell which two pills are type B and which is type A. Since the pills are extremely expensive, the patient does not wish to throw away the ones in her hand. How can she save the pills in her hand and still maintain a proper daily dosage?
There are three switches in a hallway. One switch controls a light fixture in a room at the far end of the hall. The door to the room is closed, and you can’t see whether the light is on or off. You need to find out which of the three switches controls the light. You are allowed only one inspection. How can you be certain of finding out which switch controls the light?
