This Guy Just Became The First Person To Climb Wembley Stadium's Massive Arch

Free climber James Kingston – who used to be scared of heights — climbed up almost 400 feet to the summit of London’s biggest sporting landmark.

Free runner, free climber, parkour enthusiast, and urban adventurer James Kingston has become the first person to scale the iconic arch of London's Wembley Stadium, which reaches 130 metres (400 feet) above the ground.

The 24-year-old YouTuber is from Southampton and has gained something of a reputation for climbing to giddy heights — often without permission — and taking selfies up dizzyingly tall structures around the world.

He did, however, obtain permission to climb up England's national football stadium. The BBC reported that for this particular stunt — to promote a camera — he used a safety wire after 30 people negotiated for three months to get him access to the arch.

Kingston said he'd "dreamt of being on top of the Wembley arch from the day I first laid eyes on it eight years ago when the new stadium opened".

He got into parkour as a means of getting over his fear of heights, he told the BBC. He said it had taken a "lot of training" and "slow and steady progress" to overcome his phobia.

He added that his goal as a free climber was about "building myself up and becoming the strongest, most capable human being I can be".

He also told the BBC that he had another project he was preparing for, but that it was "a secret".
