What To Buy From The Kate Young For Target Collaboration

If you're into itchy fabrics and awkward fits, this line is definitely for you!

When the Kate Young for Target collaboration launches this Sunday morning, you won't miss much by just staying in bed. These collections typically draw large crowds and mad frenzies at 8 a.m. when the store opens, but this is one not worth losing sleep over or thinning out your wallet for. The line overall lacks the innovation we've seen in previous Target lines by Prabal Gurung and Missoni. The materials in the Kate Young line also left much to be desired, and you got the sense the wrong fabrics were used for many of the pieces, like the form-fitting knit bright yellow dress seen here on Kate Mara.

The irony that this poorly styled line was created by a professional stylist will not be lost on savvy shoppers. However, if you are a diehard Kate Young fan and feel you absolutely must have something from this line, these are my picks.

IF you have a great tailor, this blazer has the potential to be great. It looked really cute on Michelle Williams but was baggy and unstructured on the hanger.

The dress on Kate Young in this picture is actually strapless and the mesh stuff underneath is actually a separate bodysuit. The result is sort of like poor man's Stella McCartney. If you haven't bought your black mesh body suit at American Apparel yet, this is what your closet is missing! It even has a hidden leotard snap bottom.
