Look like you give a damn…about socially acceptable forms of advertisement. This is a horrible misrepresentation of the Chenning meme. Shame on you Nivea!

Note the classic “re-civilize yourself” line. Innocuous if it’s part of the overall campaign, right?
Unfortunately for the PR department at Nivea, the “Re-Civilize Yourself” portion of “Look Like You Give A Damn” is not present IN ANY OTHER VERSION OF THE ADS.

Cecelia a year agoTo the people who can’t see why this might be considered racist: The point is that the ONLY ad that states “re-civilize yourself” on it is the one featuring the African-American model. If ALL of the ads had that tag, no one would think it was racist. Why, out of all of the examples of the “Look Like You Give A Damn” campaign, does not one other have that extra statement emblazoned across the photo?
