1. Why He Wrote “Pocket”
When he committed suicide, Markoff also wrote the words “Megan” and “Pocket” on the walls of his cell. Meagan McAllister was his fiance, and “Pocket” was a nickname they had for each other.
2. What He Wore In Prison:
It’s a Ferguson safety smock — bascially, a heavy, weighted smock that makes it difficult for a inmate from hurting herself.
3. Who Wrote: “All I have to say to you is Philip is a beautiful person inside and out and could not hurt a fly!”
Megan McAllister, in an email to ABC News shortly after Markoff’s arrest, wrote:
“What has been portrayed and leaked to the media is not the Philip Markoff that I know. To me and my family he is a loving and caring person and in the eyes of the law and the Constitution he is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
4. What He Did At Foxwoods
Following the robbery and murder of Julissa Brisman, Markoff headed to the Foxwoods resort in Connecticut to lay low. He took the $800 he’d stolen earlier from Trisha Leffler, an escort he’d found through Craigslist, and turned it in $5,300.
5. Where He Hid His Gun
Markoff, a promising medical student, reportedly hid a handgun in a hollowed-out copy of a Gray’s Anatomy textbook in his home in Quincy, Massachusetts.
