The Hollywood Reporter revealed over the weekend that well-known LOTR-aficionado Stephen Colbert will have a cameo role in Peter Jackson’s upcoming Hobbit trilogy.

If you’re not familiar with the extent of Stephen’s Tolkien fanaticism, you really owe it to yourself to watch this 2005 Daily Show interview with Viggo Mortensen, featuring an out-of-character Stephen explaining the saga’s mythology in great detail.

It’s not clear which installment of the trilogy Stephen will appear in, but it unfortunately won’t be the first one. In the meantime, click the gif to watch Stephen compare the GOP to LOTR.
