The IWMF and the Ford Foundation are joining forces to host this highly interactive, action-oriented international summit for women entrepreneurs working in the digital news space. More than 150 leading female founders, funders, "intrapraneurs" and media experts from across the globe will gather in New York City January 28-30, 2015 to tackle the challenges of advancing women in digital news.
The summit will feature an all-star lineup of speakers, including Kara Swisher (Re/code), Mariana Santos (Chicas Poderosas), Maria Ressa (Rappler), Lara Setrakian (News Deeply), Juanita Leon (La Silla Vacia), Lina Attalah (Mada Masr) Natalia Oberti Noguera (Pipeline Fellowship), Fran Hauser (Rothenberg Ventures) and many more.
Along with interactive panels, ignite talks and networking sessions, the summit will include a one-day hackathon to further empower women by developing technology solutions to the digital news gender gap. Three winning prototypes will be selected by a panel of judges, and teams will win prize money to develop innovative apps to overcome the obstacles women face in the digital news industry.
