1. Mayor Stubbs (who, by the way, happens to be a cat)

This honorary mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska has been serving in office since July 1997. Mayor Stubbs spends most of his time chatting up locals and drinking water from a wine glass laced with catnip.

2. Catmando (who is also a cat)

Catmando (pronounced: Cat Mandu) served as the joint leader of Britain's Official Monster Raving Loony Party (OMRLP) from 1999-2002.

3. Cicciolina, the Adult Film Star

Ilona Staller (also known by her stage name, "Cicciolina") served in the Italian parliament from 1987 to 1991. As a career adult film star, she never let politics get in the way of business and continued shooting adult movies throughout her tenure in office.

4. The Great Sasuke

Masanori Murakawa (known as "The Great Sasuke") became the first masked legislator in history by winning his election for the Iwate Prefectural Assembly. He was later arrested for kicking a 36-year-old man who was taking a picture of him.

5. H'angus, the Monkey Mascot

What started out as a publicity stunt led to Hartlepool United F.C.'s mascot becoming the town's first elected mayor in 2002. The slogan that clinched the campaign was "free bananas for all schoolchildren."

6. Jonathon “The Impaler” Sharkey

Known vampire and career wrestler Jonathon Sharkey served on the Hillsborough County, Florida Republican Party's Executive Committee in the '90s and has his sights set on higher offices. The Impaler first drank blood at the age of five and continues to do so from his mistress twice every week.

8. Pulvapies Foot Powder

In 1967, the folks of Picoazá, Ecuador voted Pulvapies branded foot powder as their new mayor. The slogan for the campaign was: "Vote for any candidate, but if you want well-being and hygiene, vote for Pulvapies."

9. Jesse "The Body" Ventura

From 1975 to 1987, "The Body" was one of the most feared pro wrestlers in the game. In 1991, Ventura moved on to become mayor of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. He was eventually elected as the 38th governor of the state in 1999.

10. Bosco the Dog

Bosco Ramos became the honorary mayor of Sunol, California in 1981, beating out two actual real-life humans in the process. He served for 13 years until his eventual death in 1994.
