1. Behold: It’s a 24-year-old Paul Newman (left) in a production of Charlie’s Aunt during his senior year at Kenyon College in 1949.
2. Newman played the lead in the comedy, which was produced less than week after a fire at the college claimed the lives of nine students.
3. His performance was not only hailed as great, but also as a welcome relief to a campus in mourning.
4. But, Newman wasn’t the only who dressed in drag. That same semester he wrote, directed, and produced the Kenyon Revue, were he made his fellow students dress up as women too.
The show was a rousing success.
