What a long, winding road it’s been for Lance Armstrong, who has steadfastly and sometimes aggressively denied using performance-enhancing drugs during his cycling career. In an interview with Oprah to air on Thursday, the seven-time Tour De France winner is expected to make a “limited confession” to doping. Here are some of his other, earlier statements on the matter.

To think people honestly thought that you could win the tour seven times in a row clean in an era when almost every top rider was doping is ridiculous. Everyone knew it, but didn’t want to be in Lance’s bad books for fear of losing their livelihoods. For all the good he’s done in his life, this shows his true colours-a self centred, self serving and ultimately a very talented and priveleged bully.
