10 Hilarious Comedians You (Probably) Haven’t Heard Of

Comedian and Summer Heights High creator and star, Chris Lilley, may be well known back in Australia, but in the US, he’s pretty underrated. Check out some other Comedians that should definitely be on your radar, and make sure you tune into HBO Sundays at 10PM for “Angry Boys.”

1. Chris Lilley

Australian comedian Chris Lilley may be huge in Australia, but the creator and star of the amazing show, “Summer Heights High,” isn’t as well known here in the states. Check out this hilarious sneak peak of Lilley’s new show, “Angry Boys,” which premieres on Sunday January 1st at 10PM on HBO.

2. James Adomian

Best known for his work on Comedy Bang Bang, Last Comic Standing and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, James is one comedian who’s working his way up the comedic ladder. And if you happen to live in NYC, you can catch James perform at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.

3. Kurt Braunohler

This New York based comedian is best known for his work with Kristen Schaal, as well as for his solo stand-up. Kurt and Kristen were both nominated for the prestigious IF.comedy “Best Comedy Show Award” in 2008 for their show “Double Down Hearts” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

4. Phil Hanley

Dubbed as one of the most buzz-worthy acts at the “Just For Laughs” comedy festival by The Hollywood Reporter, Phil is definitely one act to keep your eyes on.

5. Kumail Nanjiani

Since beginning his career in Chicago, Kumnail has performed standup on a number of television programs including the Late Show With David Letterman, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, and Conan. And with an article in the The New York Times, his big break may be just around the corner.

6. Tig Notaro

Featured on both Comedy Central Presents and The Sarah Silverman Program, Tig is one act you will definitely be seeing more of this year.

7. John Mulaney

As a writer for Saturday Night Live and a regular on VH1’s Best Week Ever, John Mulaney is one comedian who is clearly making a name for himself.

8. Morgan Murphy

As one of the original writers on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and a performer in the Comedians Of Comedy Tour, Morgan may very well be one of the funniest women you haven’t heard of.

9. Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher (aka BriTANicK):

This internet sketch comedy duo has already been featured on major sites including YouTube, CollegeHumor, Cracked, Break, and FunnyOrDie. The two were also nominated by The ECNY Awards as Best Sketch Comedy Group in New York in 2008.
