Two Days After He Knew It Was A Hoax, Here's Manti Te'o Talking About Losing "My Girlfriend" [[Update]]: Also On 12/9

    Te'o was speaking to a reporter before the Heisman trophy ceremony in New York City. The video, which comes via South Bend's local CBS affiliate WSBT, was recorded on Dec. 8, two days after the Notre Dame athletic department said Te'o learned of the supposed hoax. Update. He also mentioned her Sunday December 9th.

    On December 8th he said: "I don’t like cancer at all. I lost both my grandparents and my girlfriend to cancer."

    On Sunday December 9th Te'o said his girlfriend "made me promise, when it happened, that I would stay and play."

    The 2012 season was a Manti Te'o story book, although not all of the chapters were positive. On Sept. 12, within hours, he was given news that his grandmother in Hawaii and his girlfriend at Stanford had died, the latter after a battle with cancer.
