People Are Sharing Intense Sunburns That Left Them Swelled Up And Sad

Yet another reminder to wear sunscreen.

This is Cade Huckabay from Beaumont, southeast Texas.

And this is Cade's freshly shaved head after a sunscreenless few hours mowing a field.

Look what going without sunscreen can do:

That's right: Cade's head was so badly sunburned he could press a dent into the swelling. He told BuzzFeed News the bizarre (and kinda scary) case of doughnut head only lasted a few days. "Nothing some ice and Advil didn't fix," he said. "It was four to five days tops."

Last week, Cade decided to tweet pictures of his transformation from dude with recently shaved head to dude with insanely sunburned doughnut forehead. "One time I shaved my head, got severely sunburned, and swelled up just a little bit," he wrote. The tweet went hugely viral. I'm talking more than 100,000 retweets.

One time I shaved my head, got severely sunburned, & swelled up just a little bit :-)

People immediately started finding doppelgangers for Cade.

    @CadeHuckabay I found you as a baby

@CadeHuckabay @_JoseeeBites You look like one of these shits

i screamed at the fact that he looks like the piece of bread nobody touches

i'm laughing at how nonchalant he is about a huge dent in his forehead 😂😂😂

Before others starting making memes and even sketching Cade's predicament.

Keeping your thoughts to yourself like

And others tweeted out their own experiences of sunburn-induced dent head.

@CadeHuckabay We've all been there lad

@MeganEly3 @CadeHuckabay the better times xox

As if you needed any more evidence, this is absolutely a thing that can happen. Australian GP Brad McKay said Cade's reaction demonstrates skin's ability to retain fluid and become swollen when it's damaged.

“The harmful affects of sunburn, bee stings, insect bites, or infection will activate the body’s immune system and cause localised fluid retention," he told BuzzFeed News.

"In extreme cases this leads to spectacularly swollen skin.”

Cade, luckily, was a good sport about the whole thing. But let this be a reminder to you all to definitely, absolutely, wear sunscreen.

I’m glad my dented dome could bring some laughs😂
