The Waiting Game By Txema Salvans

Over the past eight years, Spanish photographer, Txema Salvans has compiled a photo study titled The Waiting Game, which illustrates the lives of some spanish prostitutes. Salvans wanted to shed light on this forgotten and lonely form of prostitution. Throughout the study, Salvans disguised himself while driving down the highways capturing the images. This anonymous and impersonal view of his subjects offers a glimpse into the vulnerability and lives of these women.

Also, Salvans explains that "The tragedy is not so much in the fact of prostitution, because if you decide to be a prostitute and you can control with which clients and the environment in which you work, and the rates you wish to charge, that is your own decision.

"But these girls don't even decide, and the tragedy is in the environment in which they work. They are absolutely unprotected…"
