The SNP could win 55 out of 59 parliamentary seats in Scotland in next year's general election, a disastrous new poll for Labour has revealed.
Labour would only win four seats while the Liberal Democrats would only win one seat if the election were to take place today, according to a Survation poll for the Daily Record. The Conservative party would lose its only seat in Scotland.
The poll showed that Labour's support in the region remained at 24% while the SNP increased its base, with 48% of those surveyed saying they would vote for the SNP in May.
It follows a poll that last month showed support for Labour had substantially decreased.
Many within the party hoped that the recent election of Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy would boost the party's spirits in Scotland.
But 57% of those surveyed said that Murphy's selection would make no difference to how they would vote next year.
In what could be more worrying news for Labour, 20.6% of those who voted No in the independence referendum in September said they were undecided about which party they would support. That's compared with only 4.7% of Yes voters who had not yet decided which party would receive their vote.
