Nigel Farage Will Spend His Saturday Speaking To Investors In London

Pollsters suggest Farage could struggle to win his seat in the upcoming election. Instead of canvassing, he'll be speaking to investors at a show in London on Saturday.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage will give a talk at a conference for financial investors in Islington on Saturday.

Rather than canvassing in South Thanet, where he's fighting a tough battle to win election to parliament, Farage will spend the penultimate pre-election Saturday at the Master Investor show addressing an audience of "investors, brokers and industry analysts".

Farage has been forced to focus on grassroots campaigning within South Thanet, where he is being squeezed in a three-way battle with Labour and the Conservatives, after facing criticism for not spending enough time in the constituency.

A source close to Farage said: "He'll be coming straight back [to Thanet] for the afternoon and evening canvassing."

The source compared the time spent at the conference to Farage taking part in TV debates.

"He's the party leader," the source said, "so sometimes he has to be in London, for example for the debates, or breakfast shows, so what he usually does is that he drives up to London, he squeezes it in, and then he comes back."

It is unclear whether Farage is being paid for the appearance at the show, which costs £20 to enter.

The programme states that Farage will "deliver a divisive but unmissable speech".
