10 Radical Reforms Proposed By Green Party Members

From ending a plan to supposedly ban all cars to ensuring the party never joins a coalition unless it's the largest party, there are Green policy ideas for everyone.

The Green party is currently holding its largest ever conference this weekend, with over 1,000 people in Liverpool voting on policy suggestions for the manifesto.

The policy ideas will be voted for at the conference, with the potential for them to be included in the party's manifesto.

Here are some of the proposals:

    1. End the party's "policy to ban all cars" because it "would probably prove unattractive with the electorate".

    2. End tuition fees and get rid of outstanding debt owed by students.

    3. Provide free universal childcare for children between 1 and 6 years old.

    4. Stop foie gras from being imported because ducks and geese are force-fed to produce it.

    5. Change the words of a policy that says "the concept of nationality is inherently racially discriminatory".

    6. Ensure that Article 5 of the Human Rights Act – that "everyone has the right to liberty and security of person" – should be "extended to all sentient life forms".

    7. Make it illegal to ban mothers from breastfeeding in public.

    8. Ensure that the curriculum for young children includes spending time "in a woodland or natural environment with trees".

    9. Ban Green MPs from joining a coalition – unless they're the largest party.

    10. And finally, make sure emergency motions are only 200 words long.
