There's no shame in buying your pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving.
Just because you don't have time to make a whole pie from scratch doesn't mean you can't partake in some light pie decorating.
All you need is some raw pie dough and a baking sheet. We recommend using pre-made refrigerated pie dough (like Pillsbury) because you can do literally anything to it and it will not tear or fall apart. It is like pie crust Play Doh.
How do you feel about family togetherness and the holidays? Let your pie speak for you.
1. Alphabet cookie cutters are available on Amazon.
The easiest way: Roll out some pie dough, use cookie cutters to create shapes, bake the shapes, and place them on the pie.
Line the baking sheet with parchment paper for easy clean-up. Beat an egg with a spoonful of water and then brush that egg wash on top of the cut-outs to make the finished shapes shiny and pretty. Bake the cut-outs at 425˚ until golden-brown and firm, about 10 minutes, depending on their size. Let them cool for a few minutes and then place them on the pie.
