Coach Mike Krzyzewski announced that the remainder of the Team USA scrimmage was cancelled soon after George was carted off the floor with a broken leg.
ESPN.com writer Brian Windhorst reported the basket's stanchion during the scrimmage, which George landed awkwardly against, appeared closer to the baseline than the distance in standard NBA games.
Larry Bird, the Pacers president of basketball operations, issued a statement on the Pacers' Twitter account.
Players from around the league are sending their thoughts and prayers to George on Twitter.
Including players like NBA guard Shaun Livingston and former Louisville basketball player Kevin Ware who both have suffered and recovered from similar gruesome leg injuries.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also expressed support for George Friday night.
Several hours after the accident, George thanked his supporters and said he'd be back.
