Larry David Called Donald Trump A Racist On "SNL"

"I heard if I yelled that they'd give me $5,000," David said during Trump's monologue on Saturday Night Live.

Larry David called Donald Trump a racist during this weekend's episode of Saturday Night Live.

David had reprised his Bernie Sanders character during the show's cold open. Moments later, during Trump's monologue, David — now dressed as himself and standing on the sidelines — called out "you're a racist."

"Who is that?" Trump asked.

"Trump's a racist," David said again. When Trump asked why he was doing, David replied, "I heard if I yelled that they'd give me $5,000."

"As a business man I can fully respect that," Trump said.

David's comment was a reference to an offer from Latino advocacy group Deport Racism to give $5,000 to anyone who called Trump a racist on air.

Trump's appearance on the show had generated controversy, with his controversial policies on immigration prompting calls for NBC to dump him as host.

Update: Deport Racism announced early Sunday that it would give David $5,000.

In a statement, the group said that David "stunned" the audience when he interrupted Trump to call him a racist. Though the group acknowledged that David's comments were a joke and part of the show, it nevertheless lauded David.

"We are excited to reward the Larry David with $5,000 cash for 'standing up' to Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live and speaking the truth about his anti-Latino racism, even though he was joking," Deport Racism campaign director Luke Montgomery said in the statement.
