Luke Hatfield 3 months agoIn all fairness, the violence against women act would only fund domestic violence support centers and this would take funding away from other portions of the state that might need it. So, it is understandable that these men might vote against it, and this is just another situation where legislators name a bill to incriminate those who vote against it. These men do not necessarily hate women and want to degrade the protection and support they receive, but are probably watching out for other functions in their state that they believe do not need to have

Since, as usual, these “articles” are just sensationalizing so called trends, lets think about why some of these guys may have voted against this… Like maybe because parts of it have been declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, or that the ACLU have spoken out about portions of the act, or maybe because this act further perpetuates the idea that all men are aggressors and all women victims in every instance of domestic violence. The stats are out there, which suggest up to 40% of DV victims are men, ( http://domesticviolencestatistics.org/men-the-overlooked-victims-of-domestic-violence/ .) But nah, none of those could even be remote possibilities. Lets just keep believing that they’re rich, white women haters, and probably abusers, cause that’s a lot easier then say… researching what this Act is all about.
