Benita Veliz Becomes First Undocumented Immigrant To Address A Party Convention
The DREAM Act advocate spoke briefly at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night in support of President Obama’s policies to allow some young illegal immigrants who would have been eligible for the DREAM Act to stay in the US.

You were probably a mediocre student in school & are pissed at yourself for not doing better. Becoming legal after entering this country illegally isnt as easy as you think. katherinerh 9 months agoMy grandma was born on American soil but she was half Mexican & half Navajo. She was taken away from her parents, at 5-years-old, and put in a system to become mire American. She joined the Navy during World War 2 and met my grandpa, a gringo and navy man. They married in 1946 but we’re told later that their marriage was not legal because of her heritage. How does that seem right?

beckio 9 months agothe hate towards this woman is absolutely appalling. I bet most of the people calling for her deportation are just jealous that she’s managed to accrue more qualifications for a better paying job than they did. It’s not these kid’s faults their parents brought them here. A lot of those same parents don’t even speak much english, and definitely don’t understand the legal system or why their kids can’t work, or get legal documentation. They thought they were helping their kids. And whats to be done when these children end up being smart, and try to at least make something of themselves and receive better education so they’re actively contributing to our economy instead of just painting houses or cleaning them? People get BUTTHURT because they’re apparently taking ‘legal citizen’s’ jobs. Not my fault they can do what you can do better. Not their fault either. There is absolutely no reason why this woman should be deported to a country she has barely known. if anyone should be punished, it’s her parents. She fully deserves to be applauded for facing almost insurmountable odds to receive a good education. You do realize she went through school KNOWING she probably wouldn’t be able to get a job at the end of the line? She did it anyway, Obama’s DREAM act is a godsend to people like her who faced a dead end of unemployment with perfectly good degrees. These people can help us, bolster the American economy, even do some jobs better than citizens. And we turn them away because they don’t have documentation?? I think the stupidest thing in the world would be to deport any of them. That’d be HURTING America, not helping it, you selfish, selfish bastards.

CALM DOWN PLEASE!!! What this does is help young people who came over at a young age become legal. What’s wrong with that? The whole immigration problem is that we have to many loopholes and the cost is outrageous. I have friends who went to college with me that grew up in America but weren’t hear legally. It isn’t fair for them to “go back” when there is nothing to go back to, some don’t even speak Spanish! So all of ya’ll who keep hating please just calm yo self’s down!!! They just want a better life, they aren’t taking your jobs and last time I checked America was a country of immigrants who came from other countries to start a new life. That’s what we are all about, starting a new; not saying, sorry go back where ya cames from!!!

And read the law and what it entails to be eligible for the program… Get informed, think of others and vote for the person that you think has the best values.
