In a historic 5-4 decision today, the Supreme Court struck down the state bans on same-sex marriage.

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the ruling that determined that there would no longer be such a thing as "same-sex marriage," but simply "marriage."

The final paragraph of his opinion in particular is gorgeously written, and worth reading:
