Wife Of Israeli Minister Apologizes For Racist Obama Tweet

Never tweet.

This is Judy Shalom Nir-Mozes.

In addition to being a radio journalist, she's also the wife of Israeli Interior Minister Silvan Shalom, a Likud member who has previously served as deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs.

Here they are at the United Nations in New York in 2003 with the Israeli U.N. Ambassador.

Here she is with former U.S. First Lady Laura Bush in 2005.

And here's what Mozes tweeted on Sunday morning.

Her tweet quickly drew some attention.

This tweet (by the wife of a senior Likud official) has since been deleted: https://t.co/HgYQozzPME

About 15 minutes after posting it, she deleted the tweet and apologized for the "stupid joke."

I apologize, that was a stupid joke somebody told me.

People were not happy.

@JudyMozes My 9yr old has better excuses...

@JudyMozes It's only stupid now that you've rightly been called out as a racist.

@JudyMozes as an American Jew and son of Holocaust survivors I am saddened by your racist tweet. A joke? Disgraceful. Never forget.

It's not the first time that Mozes' Twitter account has got her into trouble. As Haaretz reported, she appears to have deleted a tweet she sent in May to Obama.

She later apologized directly to the president.

President Obama I shouldnt have written the inappropriate joke I heard. I like people no matter about their race and religion.

Sorry if I caused any offence to anyone. I hope I will stay married when my husband will land and hear what I did.

We should all remember this sage advice.

Mozes sent an earlier tweet to Obama in May. An earlier version of this post incorrectly said the tweet had been sent in June.
