One of the New York Post's front pages on Thursday ran with the headline "Muslim Killers" after two shooters opened fire at a social services center for people with disabilities in San Bernardino, California, killing at least 14 people and injuring 17.
Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 27, were identified by police as the people killed in a shoot-out with police after the incident. Farook's father told the New York Daily News that he is a Muslim.
The Post also has another print cover is in circulation, with the same photo but a different headline: "Murder Mission."
The "Muslim Killers" cover sparked strong reactions from people online.
Others said the Post was using blunt language, drawing parallels to phrases media outlets used describe Robert L. Dear, a white man who fatally shot three people at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs, Colorado, last Friday.
Some called all of the labels divisive.
Rubenstein Associates, which represents the Post, did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
