Unartful and tactless, but, I mean, it appears that he was just reminding viewers to be thankful for our democratic process. I can understand being moved to say something about it in a newsroom where you're seeing scenes of violent oppression alongside scenes of the humdrum, taken-for-granted exercising of freedom.
