Washington, D.C. -- A hush fell over the room at the "Backing Grassroots Conservatives Against Entrenched Incumbents" event at the Conservative Political Action Conference this morning when Joel Frewa, president of the pro-Tea Party New Generation PAC, introduced the next speaker as "director of the NAACP...C."

"Don't be scared," Frewa said.

The man who came to the podium is James Marshal, the director of the NAACPC -- not to be confused with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. NAACPC stands for the National Association for the Advancement of Conservative People of ALL Colors, and they see themselves as "the opposite" of the NAACP, according to Chief Operating Officer Margie Kinder.

According to Kinder, NAACPC is actually about three years old, but was lying fallow under the leadership of the last national director. Under the new leadership, the NAACPC aims to be a voice in this year's election cycle.

The group is "fighting for freedom from identity politics," said Kinder. According to their website, "The NAACPC stands strong behind the belief that there are no differences in people, relative to skin color."

Marshal, the National Director, said that the group teaches "American forgotten history." Marshal said this includes teaching voters and students that Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican and that the Ku Klux Klan was a part of the Southern Democratic party.

The group is now endorsing Congressional candidates like Debbie Wasserman Schultz opponent Karen Harrington, running on the "Fire Debbie" platform, and Joe the Plumber, who is running for a seat in Ohio's 9th District this year.

A spokesman for the NAACP did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

  • k94 nailed it…Repubs always spout about southern democrats being the racist party, but they always fail to mention who were considered conservative and who was liberal…Liberal and Conservative are much more accurate description than Dems and Repubs

  • “The NAACPC stands strong behind the belief that there are no differences in people, relative to skin color.” Yes! We're for the advancement of ALL people! Well, only if they're “conservative”.

  • “the Ku Klux Klan was a part of the Southern Democratic party.” I hope that they also teach that the Southern Democrats were conservative, while the Republicans were liberal, and that the Southern Democrats eventually left the Democratic Party and flocked to the Republican party, creating the modern, conservative form of it.
