WASHINGTON — An Islamist Facebook page uploaded a cartoon explaining how to stone adulterers on Wednesday that is getting a decent reaction on the Web so far, garnering over 120 “likes” and 500 Facebook shares as well as 500 comments.
The cartoon provides step-by-step instructions on how to properly execute someone guilty of adultery, according to Eric Trager, a fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
The Facebook page it’s posted on is dedicated to opposing “secularists and liberals” in Egypt, Trager said.
Updated 5:18 p.m.: Ross Neumann points out that the cartoon originates in a National Post article from 2010 which delves into a stoning incident in Iran.

Fun fact: the only people who ever refer to Islam as a “religion of peace” are either
A) right-wing douchebag bigots, who use the term sarcastically as they condemn 1.6 billion followers of a particular religion based on the actions of a small and extremely radical movement within that faith,
or
B) George W. Bush, a right-wing douchebag who recklessly framed the struggle against these extremists in the terms of a holy war, who used it to explain that the majority of Muslims were, in fact, perfectly decent people. -

C) Muslims (Islam literally translates to “surrender” but it’s derived from the root word “salam” which means “peace”). I suppose all major religions have their domination fantasies and Islam is no exception. It is the ultimate goal of Islam to one day unite every corner of the earth under the rule of sharia, when this occurs, the world is be in a perfect state of peace. That is where the term “religion of peace” originated. Bear in mind… saying “it is the goal of Islam to unite… etc.” is no more controversial than saying “Billy Graham would sure like it a whole bunch if everyone on earth were suddenly southern evangelist”, that is merely the nature of organized religion, don’t let political correctness control your judgment so much that you forget that all religion is insidious at heart. -

Dude, just no. All religions drive to convert. Many Muslims say “Islam is peace” in the same way some Christians say, “God/Jesus is love.” With the best examples of both, it means to try not to do wrong to people. Modern, cosmopolitan Muslims OR Christians generally interpret this as leading a decent life and minding their own business. The Old Testament mandates the same barbaric treatment for the same crimes. Westerners just have a longer history of shrugging and deciding maybe a thousands of years old document of a desert religion isn’t the thing.

jonc15 2 months agoCould I remind all the smugly outraged “Christians” that the Old Testament is pretty big on stoning people to death for various transgressions such as adultery, idolatry and working on the sabbath? Most Christians choose to ignore the “word of God” when it comes to stoning. So do the vast majority of Muslims. Stop trying to push your anti-Muslim agenda by implying this is mainstream behavior.

The phrase “Christian” is derived based on the people who followed the teachings of Jesus Christ in the early days of the Apostolic churches (even the Coptic and Orthodox) who later formed/wrote the New Testament. The point of the New Testament is forgiveness for breaking pretty much any of the archaic Judeo-Christian societal rules and guidelines, effectively negating the need to follow them. While I understand that you’re trying to make a point on the hypocrisy of organized religion, at least get the basics down beforehand.

Hollywood is predominetly run by who? Fein is a jewish name. Most Jews are not blond so we can sumize she is either not a jew married a jew or is a jew that bleached her hair, check the eye brows.

steved24 2 months agoEvery so often someone feels impelled to post why the rest of the world despises the U.S. Well, THIS IS WHY WE DESPISE YOU. You either do it, or you let it happen, wait for us to intervene, then gripe when we don’t do it with surgical precision. There are 300 million of us, more than any other country except India and China, so our contempt counts more than yours. “This is our culture?” Fix your culture. “This is our religion?” Reform your religion, or get a new one. “God commands it?” What have you got to lose? If you serve someone like that you deserve to go to Hell anyway. Oh, and this is NOT what the Koran commands. The Koran commands scourging for adulterers, and they can only marry other adulterers, which is kinda hard if they’ve been put to death.
