Ann Romney’s "Childhood Nanny" Dishes On Privileged Upbringing
“Juanita” calls into Current TV claiming she worked for Ann’s wealthy family as a cook and babysitter. Says she and Mitt were “nice,” but confirms she “never worked a day in her life.” There’s also a strange story about a parakeet.
BuzzFeed has reached out to the Romney campaign for comment, and will update when they respond. The only woman of the right age in the Pontiac area identified in public records as “Juanita” was listed with a telephone number that has been disconnected.
The call took place on Current’s morning program, the Stephanie Miller Show.

Ansonia a year agoAnn Romney said she was hearing women say they were most concerned about jobs and the economy. As a woman who has always worked a low level job in the private sector, I certainly know it’s jobs and the economy—-not access to free abortifactants—-that women care about right now. And it’s obvious to me Ann Romney’s wealth, and the fact that she doesn’t hold a paid job, didn’t prevent her from listening to women better than Obama has.
It has to have been obvious to the Obama administration too.
So what did they do? They couldn’t change Ann Romney’s correct assessment of what most concerns women. But they could distract attention from her message by exploiting people’s feelings of envy, self pity, class resentment, and defensiveness about perceived social standing.
So (I think) they discreetly assigned to Hiliary Rosen the task of pointing to Ann Romney’s wealth and delivering the line: “She never worked a day in her life.” (This line is a vicious variation of the nicer old one that women used to use to describe stay-at-home moms who had industrious and doting husbands : ” She never HAD TO work a day in her life.” Rosen left out “HAD TO” in order to imply that Ann Romney has been sitting around eating Bon bons at home.
The One and his minions sure can sucker the simple volk, into failing to examine his track record, by inciting and directing visceral emotions. (And, by the way, Rosen makes a 6 figure income. Michelle Obama’s last job was a cushy political gift. These women arn’t any more connected to the average woman than is Ann Romney.) -

kea718 a year agoYou know, I bet if you track down the babysitter I had as a child she would know exactly what I ended up doing throughout my life. I bet she knows every job I’ve ever had even though it was long after she had any kind of involvement in my life. I’m really sick of people talking about how horrible people with money are. Did you know that poor people use their welfare money on alcohol and drugs, and they live in trailers and don’t shower or wear deodorant cause they’re poor and gross. The poor steal whatever they want. The fact is you can talk crap about anybody and there are bad seeds in any group… It doesn’t mean it’s true.

JHo a year agoRepublicans never look beyond the first layer of the onion. Immediately it’s “they hate her because she’s rich.” No, there are more layers beyond the wealth part. She will become the sensitive identifier with women, who struggles like them and who shares the plight of american mothers out there. The thing is she doesn’t. She was born in a privileged life and married a privileged man. She stayed at home and raised kids because that was her role. Mothers in America today don’t have “roles”, they have to work full-time and parent full-time with little to no help. Any 0.01% privileged wife who says they “understand” the plight of the struggling women, but wants to regulate their bodies and make birth control more expensive for them, is being severely disingenuous.

kati24 a year agoThere is nothing wrong with being wealthy at all. But its in her best interest to claim she has had a job when she hasn’t. I know she wants to relate to women who work. But right now in this economy, I don’t think there are a lot of stay at homes moms. Which is sad, because kids do benefit from that. But she is missing the entire idea she is trying to communicate and alienating herself even more. Making herself seem really unrelatable.

jessedl a year agoWhy is being wealthy a negative? From all I am hearing from the Democrats (socialist) they want equality. We have dumbed down the schools so that nobody learns anything of use. Now you want to tax folks so that fat lazy stamp mammies and white trailer trash can have all comforts that hard working folks have. Don’t you douche-bag Dem lib-tards realize one thing. The more you tax and regulate the more you alienate yourself from the wealth you crave. The folks with the money are going to take their ball and go home. Then you will have nobody left to tax. Then what? Wake up America! Barry must go!

souptwins a year agoListened to an interview with Ann Romney a few years ago about her college days with Mitt. They were both going to school and lived in student housing - tiny little place with cement floors. She pieced together a carpet out of scraps from dumpster diving. For a desk they used a wooden door on cinder blocks. I guess they have paid the price to get where they are. They didn’t get help from their parents who would take them to dinner and say - how can you guys live like this? At Harvard, they lived in a basement apartment for $50/mo and had their first child. She is the genuine article! Son, Josh said they had no outside help while he was growing up in an interview last night with Pierce. This lady did not know Ann after the age of 16.

Elwin Ransom a year agoI wonder if anyone who escaped the clutches of the Rev Wright’s racist church will dish on how the Obama’s subjected their children to that hatemonger’s teachings.

vanessas13 a year agoIt confirms that she comes from a life of privilege and more likely than not her experience raising five boys is vastly different from that of the average stay at home moms or an avg working mom. It’s a dose of reality.
