A wild bear ran through a shopping mall in Khabarovsk, Russia, before bursting out the doors and heading towards a playground, where it was shot dead by police.
Footage of the bear being hunted by men in camouflage, then shot and stuffed into the backseat of a van was released Wednesday and led to a public outcry, the Associated Press reported.
In response, Russia's main state agency announced it will launch an investigation into why the animal was killed, according to the AP.
Security video from the mall shows the bear running swiftly through the halls past stores.
Men in camouflage are then seen chasing the animal in a playground, where they shoot it to death. Leather-jacketed men wearing gloves then shove the bear into the back of a van.

Natalya Kovalenko, an animal rights activist, told Russian state-run website Vesti.ru that the bear, between 2 to 3 years old, was smoked out of the mall before it was shot.
The Investigative Committee, Russia's main state investigative agency, has launched an inquiry into police action after "numerous requests" to do so, the BBC reported.
